Do you love books with a zeal so intense you feel it must be unique to you alone? Do you love your battered, dog-eared paperbacks and cringe at the idea that someday you might be asked to merge your library with your partner? Do you love your books with courtly love, cherishing their pristine pages? Or do you love them carnally, underlining bits of prose that stole your breath and leaving bath water drops on the pages?
If you are this kind of book lover, then you need to get a hold of this slim little volume of essays. Anne Fadiman’s Ex Libris, Confessions of a Common Reader is the most endearing little book I have read in a long time. Recommended to me by a tumblr friend, this book had me swooning and giggling from the first page to the last. I devoured it in three days.
Seriously, book lovers. You need to check this one out.
